Gemini Untwined recently hosted its very first fundraiser

Gemini Untwined recently hosted its very first fundraiser – a private concert with internationally renowned violinists, the Carpenter Siblings, at the Wellcome Collection in London.

The evening kicked off with welcoming remarks from our CEO, Marelisa Vega, and an address from one of our co-founders, neurosurgeon Owase Jeelani. He shared the story of how Gemini Untwined was formed back in 2018 and the life-changing journey that we have been on since then – from separating Pakistani twins Safa and Marwa in 2018 to our fifth set of twins in Latin America later this year – and that no child’s life should have a cost attached.

Guests also enjoyed an amazing demo station, showcasing how we use VR to conduct surgeries, as well as the opportunity, after two years of the pandemic, to meet Trustees, partners, and other donors in person.

As the only charity in the world dedicated to treating craniopagus twins, we are so grateful to all of those who attended and pledged their support. Their donations will enable us to further research the condition, develop new surgical techniques, and fund operations – giving more families hope and each of their children a happy, healthy, and independent life.

Thank you also to the wonderful Carpenter Siblings, David, Sean and Lauren, for providing us with a spectacular evening of music.

Finally, we also premiered a new video capturing the journey that we’ve been on since 2018 and the work we have to do yet. You can watch the full video here.

If you’re inspired by the work of our team, please get in touch here. We’d love to start a conversation.
